Anti Bias and Intercultural Learning in context of youth work and informal education
Period of the project: January 2007 - December 2009
Applicant RAA Brandenburg (Germania)
Partners: ODN / Civilitas di Zielona Gora (Polonia); VIMIO di Vukovar (Croazia); share-it di Palermo (Italia)
The project ‘Anti-Bias and intercultural education’ aims at fostering young people’s democratic understanding and strengthening their sense of solidarity. The project, initiated by RAA Brandenburg, is co-financed for three years as part of the EU Action Programme ‘Youth in Europe’. Together with partner organizations in Poland (ODN and Civilitas), Croatia (VIMIO) and Italy (share-it) an international training for trainers on methods regarding the Anti-Bias approach (understood as prejudice-aware training and education) will be conducted. Consequently and alongside other approaches to intercultural education the Anti Bias approach will be experimented and approved by the participants within the framework of national trainings as well as further developed for each specific national context. At the same time, the Anti-Bias approach will be implemented in the intercultural European context during so-called ‘meetings of encounters’, in which young people from all the four cooperating countries will participate. The experiences collected here will be presented to the public along with contributions from the current debate on intercultural education on five international conferences that are organised in the participating countries and regions.
